Latest news from Romania
In the month of May, representatives from NTC traveled to Romania to finalize the purchase of a house in Cuceu which will be given to the family mentioned in Project Resettlement.
The team also explored the possibility of buying or renting a building which could be used as a center for the organisation, and a warehouse for storing goods. A unique opportunity presented itself for renting a nice building in Apahida. The building has several residential floors with space for an office and base for NTC staff when they are in Romania. In addition, the lease includes a storage area with two floors. The location is good. It's about 10 km. outside of Cluj-Napoca and right off the main road, so it is possible to get there at all times of the year.
The decision of the NTC’s board was to rent this building, and we were given occupancy at the beginning of July 2010.
In July, a group of eight people, consisting of NTC volunteers and board members traveled to Apahida. The purpose of this trip was to set up the warehouse and begin cleaning and renovating the interior of the house. The team also brought a truck containing some of the clothes and other items which have been collected to hand out in the villages.
Soon you will be able to see more information on Project Resettlement, the trip in July and pictures from Romania here on the website.
